INDIA GENERAL SERVICE 1854-95, CLASPS, BURMA 1885-7, BURMA 1887-89 ‘1330 PTE CHARLES ALLEYENE 2D, BN RL WEST SURREY REGT’

Charles Alleyne, aged 21 from Peckham, joined the 2nd Royal West Surrey Regiment on 1st August 1885, having previously served in the 3rd Battalion. He reached the rank of Sergeant by July 1892 but was reduced to Private again in December 1894. He served in the East Indies 1886-1887, Burma 1887- 1888, East Indies 1888-1895 and Home service 1895 -1897. On 1st December 1894 he had transferred to the Derbyshire Regiment (Regt No 4999), presumably to stay in India and was discharged on 31st July 1897.

Service record gives Burma 1885-7 clasp, however the medal roll confirms both clasps. Naming engraved in style seen on Burma 1889-92’s but no notes for reissue.

Condition GVF, small pawnbrokers mark to upper obverse.
