U.N. MEDAL, ON UNFICYP RIBBON SOUTH ATLANTIC 1982, WITH ROSETTE ‘24180134 CPL A J BURTON PARA’
Corporal Alan ‘Jock’ Burton served in ‘C’ Company, 3rd Battalion Parachute Regiment at the battle of Mount Longdon, 11/12th June 1982, during the Falklands War of 1982.
Burton is mentioned a number of times in James O’Connell’s outstanding book, ‘Three Days in June’, where he is variously named ‘Jock the gob’ or ‘Jock’ Burton. There is also a photograph of him with other NCO’s and it appears he served in 7 Platoon.
Condition, Mounted as worn, naming abrasively cleaned, leaving a couple of numbers/letters a little weak. However as can be seen from the pictures, the naming is still very clear and some parts of the naming are unaffected. Rest of the medal VF or better. Priced under 2/3rds of the price without the issue to naming.
Note: A duplicate set of medals were issued to the recipient, these marked ‘R’ for replacement, the medals for sale here being the originals.
