INDIA GENERAL SERVICE 1895-1902, 3 CLASPS, RELIEF OF CHITRAL 1895, PUNJAB FRONTIER 1897-98, TIRAH 1897-98 ‘3495 PTE., 1ST BN. GORD. HIGHRS.’; QUEEN’S SOUTH AFRICA 1899-1902, 5 CLASPS, CAPE COLONY, PAARDEBERG, DRIEFONTEIN, JOHANNESBURG, BELFAST ‘PTE., GORDON HIGHRS.’

Herbert William Mott, a 19 year old shoemaker from Sub-Deanery, Chichester, enlisted into the Gordon Highlanders at Chichester on 1 October 1890. After serving in India, Feburay 1892- March 1898, he transferred to the Reserve on 31 March 1898 Rejoining on mobilization of his unit on 9 October 1899, he served throughout the Boer War; November 1899- July 1902. He was finally discharged from service on 30 September 1902.

Medal rolls confirm clasps, a note on the QSA roll stating ‘serving with the Johannesburg Police’. Also entitled to the KSA medal.

Condition VF, couple of small EK’s and light contact marks.. Ex DNW February 1999.
