Group to Sergeant Robert C Thompson, includes Purple Heart, Pantograph named, Good Conduct Impressed, two collar dogs, 7th Infantry badge and 2 medal ribbons. Thompson was from Cleveland Ohio, born 1926 and enlisted 1st August 1944.
Comes with old card with Thompsons details, saying the Purple Heart was Awarded for gunshot Wounds received at Okinawa. No other research on Thompson but it is believed his wounds were not fatal. Note PH’s to non KIA’s were not generally named, unless privately done. However for a short period in July/Aug 1945 medals were pantographed at demobilising stations to non KIA’s. This would fit in very well with when Thompson would have been wounded and demobbed if wounds were so serious.
