This cap was worn by an Officer serving in German South West Africa between 1896 and 1913, although may have been worn into WW1 as this one has the date '1912' in the liner. The crown is made of sand coloured corduroy material, with a blue band (for SWA service), single Officers cockade and sand grey painted leather peak.
Condition of the cap is superb but its shape is amazing, holding the classic 'crusher' style to perfection. Very rare cap. Photos/details of this model of cap are in the superb book 'The German Colonial Troops from 1889 to 1918' by Kraus and Muller, Pg390/1.
