WW1 RFC PILOTS INSIGNIA TUNIC AND CAP

WW1 RFC pilots insignia from uniform and cap, as removed from the pilots uniform. This insignia was worn by Lieutenant G L Newman, a flight instructor and test pilot with the RFC and RAF 1917-18. Group consists of all the RFC buttons (10); large, pocket an epaulette. Very attractive embroidered and paper backed pilots wings, removed from tunic. Officer cap badge stamped ‘J R Gaunt of London’ one prong missing. Lieutenants rank pips and a scarce to find cap ribbon (from part only), as worn by probationary/trainee pilots in the RFC. RFC badge is similar in size to RFC collar insignia but is sewn into ribbon so backing can’t be seen.
