SCINDE 1843, MEEANEE REVERSE ‘JOHN ODGER, 22ND REGT.’
Confirmed on roll as one of just 66 Meanee reverse Scinde medals to the 22nd Foot. Papers not yet located so not clear if he was wounded and therefore wasn’t at Hyderabad. However he is not listed as one of those killed at Meanee.
Naming engraved in large serifed capitals but not in the usual regimental style, possibly a latter replacement issue. Ex DNW 19 March 2008. A second medal named in the usual regimental style appeared at the same auction house on 18 September 2009, the latter being the original issue.
Condition GVF, replacement clip and split ring suspension. Sold with a fine file of research on the campaign and the 22nd’s participation in it.
