Trooper Vorster served in the 2nd Cape Mounted Yeomanry. This unit saw a good deal of action at Morosi’s Mountain in 1879 and Basutoland in 1880, suffering many casualties.

361 medals to the 3rd Cape Yeomanry, 124 of which were returned unissued.
