AFGHANISTAN 1878, 3 CLASPS CHARASIA, KABUL, KANDAHAR, KABUL & ‘1148 PTE G. LEVERETT, 9TH LANCERS’
George Leverett, a 20 year old groom from Necton, Norfolk, enlisted into the 9th Lancers on 13 September 1869. He served in India, January 1875 to March 1879 and December 1880 until November 1885 and Afganistan March 1879 until December 1880. The rest of his service was at home until discharged in December 1887. During his service he spent time in the cells or was imprisoned multiple times.
During the Afghan was he served in ‘C’ Troop, his Regiment taking part in the famed charges at Kila Kazi outside Kabul on 11 December 1879.
