This fine photograph taken of twelve officers and NCO’s flight crew in a German prisoner of war camp, shows a variety of uniforms. Two are clearly Royal Flying Corps, both wearing an observer wing. Two other are also likely Royal Flying Corps but wearing non standard uniform. Likewise some of the French aviators are either still wearing flight jackets they were captured wearing or clothing supplied as a prisoner. A variety of insignia can be seen, one French aviator still wearing his Medal Militaire and Croix d Guerre with three palms!
Photo inscribed to reverse as send by Sergeant E Jones, RFC, dated 5th March 1917.
Photograph in postcard format, size approximately 9 x 14cm.
